Living with Mental Health
Good afternoon everyone,
I thought it would be in order that I would come on here and discuss an important issue that is on the rise in the UK. This issue is Mental Health
A lot of people up and down the country have been diagnosed with some sort of condition such as: Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression etc.
On social media especially since lockdown, these conditions have been getting more and more from being locked inside our houses and everything. There are so many people on there that either don't understand certain things or struggle to accept any kind of support network from either friends, family or colleagues or online friends.
From my point of view, I was diagnosed very early on at the age of 10 after something incredibly sad happened that changed my life forever! Living with autism can be extreamley difficult at times. There are times that I physically want to cry and scream and let all my emotions out but I have people that rely on look up to me for help and advice, especially because of my front line jobs that I do within customer service in the railway.
I have a wonderful support group around me that I know i can rely on if I'm ever in need of help and support. These groups are called Better Together ( Facebook 18+) who's group manager is a mental health coach and I'm very lucky that I can go to her. I also have the Greavsey's Tuck Shop around me who run a support group called the Safe Space (Discord)
I struggle a lot from time to time but I've learnt to go straight to the mental health coach or the safe space and have a 1-1 with someone and just talk things through.
If you suffer with mental health, I advise you to go and join one of these incredible groups, they really do give you some incredible techniques to try. I'm happy to help as well if anyone needs to contact me for any reason.
If you think you might have a mental health condition, I recommend that you speak to someone like a mental health professional, your GP, a doctor etc
This is what I do to help myself sometimes:
write down in a notebook how I feel, I write down the situation, how it's made me feel and why and then I show the mental health coach what I've written and then she puts techniques in place for me to try
Hope some of this helps
Kind Regards
Jake
